These were originally designed to sample for minerals in beach sands but now are used extensively for drilling and sampling in very sandy friable soils. A 75mm diameter sand auger will penetrate 30cm in about four turns, which fills the auger. Now also available in a heavy duty version (made from thicker steel) for contaminated sand that has roots or soil or shells, please enquire with our sales team.
