The funnel viscosity test can indicate changes in fluid properties, with measurements taken and recorded regularly. The marsh funnel is a simple device routinely used to check fluid viscosity. The marsh funnel is conical in shape; 152mm in diameter at the top and 305mm long with the capacity of 1500ml. A 12 mesh screen covers half of the top designed to remove foreign matter and drill cuttings from the fluid. The fluid runs through a fixed orifice at the bottom of the funnel and collected in the mud jug. The funnel is molded from a tough, durable plastic that resists breaking or cracking. A brass orifice assures consistency in all readings.

Borecasing is a specialised PVC pressure pipe offered to the mining industry. The cased section of any well usually forms a lining or casing for a water bore drilled vertically into the ground and houses the pump, drawing water from the source aquifer to the pump and seals the aquifer from contamination from adjacent zones. In this application, resistance to crushing rather than internal pressure is the key requirement, so the primary consideration is pipe wall thickness for high stiffness.
